PPL EnergyPlus® has partnered with Comverge, Inc. to offer full-service management services such as demand response programs.
Capacity Marketing Program
- Customers capable of shedding at least 100 kW within 2 hours' notice can earn incentive payments.
- Maximum of 10 curtailments between noon and 8 p.m. weekdays from June through September. No single curtailment can last longer than six hours.
- Capacity payments are based on a predetermined price for capacity as established by PJM for a given capacity market period.
- Customers may also be eligible for an "energy" payment in addition to the "capacity" payments.
Economic demand response program
- Customers capable of shedding at least 100 kW can earn incentive payments.
- Customers determine the market price at which they would be willing to curtail load.
- Participation is voluntary.
- Payments are based on market price for the amount of load reduced for each hour, less customer's generation and transmission rate.
Synchronized reserve program
- Customers capable of shedding at least 500 kW within 10 minutes' notice can earn incentive payments.
- Historically there have been approximately 40 events per year. Each event can last no longer than 30 minutes. In recent years, event duration has averaged about 15 minutes.
- Payment is based on the market clearing prices, the number of hours customer is available to participate and the load customer makes available to curtail.
