We can develop, build, own and operate solar, biogas, hydro, wind and cogeneration renewable energy facilities throughout the mid-Atlantic and Northeast.PPL Renewable Energy is currently operating and developing about 50 megawatts of capacity of renewable energy projects, including two biogas projects that have been honored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
PPL EnergyPlus® has made a 20-year commitment to buy the electricity generated at two wind farms in Pennsylvania and has agreed to buy half of the renewable energy credits produced by a new wind farm in West Virginia. The three wind projects total 132 megawatts of renewable energy.
PPL EnergyPlus markets about 900 megawatts of electricity generated by clean, renewable hydro electric projects in competitive markets in the northeast and the northwest.
Solar
Converting sunlight into electricity- Clean source of power
- Flexible modular design
- Renewable energy source (no fuel required except sunlight)
- Can be located on the ground or on rooftops
Biogas
Capturing methane to power electricity generators- Local, renewable source of energy
- se of underutilized fuel source
- Heat can be used to increase efficiency
- Reduces methane emissions
Wind Power
Harnessing the power of the wind for electricity- Clean source of power
- Renewable energy source (no fuel required except wind)
- Design can be expanded to meet future needs
