Who is PPL EnergyPlus®?
PPL EnergyPlus is a part of PPL Corporation. PPL EnergyPlus is not the same company as PPL Electric Utilities. We have been a licensed electricity supplier since 1998 and currently supply energy and expertise to some of the biggest commercial, industrial and institutional customers in Pennsylvania. PPL EnergyPlus is now offering residential customers highly competitive electricity pricing.
Why am I able to switch to PPL EnergyPlus?
Pennsylvania allows you to choose the company that supplies your electricity. Over one million Pennsylvania customers have already switched to a new electricity supplier.
Why would I choose another electric company if I already have one?
The Price to Compare for your Electric Distribution Company (local utility) will change every three months and could increase or decrease; our price is fixed through the meter read date specified in your offer*; our price is lower than the current Price to Compare for your Electric Distribution Company (local utility); and if you decide you want to switch to another supplier, we won’t charge you any cancellation fees.
How much will I save?
That depends on your electricity usage. The PPL EnergyPlus price is fixed from the time your switch occurs through the meter read date specified in your offer* and provides you price certainty, while the Price to Compare of your Electric Distribution Company (local utility) will change every three months and could increase or decrease. Remember, electricity supply represents one portion of your total electric bill. You still will pay your Electric Distribution Company (local utility) a charge for delivering electricity that covers the costs to operate, maintain, repair and improve their wires and equipment, and this charge will not be fixed under the PPL EnergyPlus Price Assurance Plan.
What is the “Price to Compare” and where can I find it?
This is the price that your Electric Distribution Company (local utility) charges for the electricity it must purchase for you if you don’t switch suppliers. That price changes every three months and is available from your Electric Distribution Company (local utility).
What will happen to my electric service if I switch?
Nothing will change about your electric service. Your Electric Distribution Company (local utility) will continue to deliver the electricity you purchase, read your meter and respond when the power goes out. And, you’ll still get one bill from your Electric Distribution Company (local utility) that will include your fixed PPL EnergyPlus charges.
What if I have questions about my bill?
You would contact your Electric Distribution Company. PECO: 800-494-4000. PPL Electric Utilities: 800-342-5775.
Is there any charge to enroll?
Absolutely not. PPL EnergyPlus has free enrollment and there are no monthly fees associated with your account. If you already have selected a competitive supplier, please be aware that your currently supplier may have a cancellation fee.
If I decide to change suppliers, is there a cancellation fee or other penalties?
No. You can cancel service from PPL EnergyPlus at any time and choose another supplier or return to the default service provided by your Electric Distribution Company (local utility) without cost or penalty from PPL EnergyPlus.
Is there a circumstance where PPL EnergyPlus could cancel this agreement?
PPL EnergyPlus would only cancel your agreement for one of these three reasons: (1) Non-payment by you; (2) Changes in any legislation, regulation or electric distribution company tariff that adversely affect this agreement; or (3) Unpreventable natural calamities or other events beyond the reasonable control of PPL EnergyPlus.
When will I start receiving electricity from PPL EnergyPlus?
We will begin supplying electricity to your home after the enrollment process is completed by PPL EnergyPlus and your electric distribution company. Depending on the time of your next meter read and other factors, this process could take up to 4 to 6 weeks.
Is PPL EnergyPlus licensed?
Yes. PPL EnergyPlus has been licensed by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) since 1998.
*You will receive the PPL EnergyPlus rate at least through your meter read date specified in your offer.
