The PPL EnergyPlus Renewables Program invests in the development of new renewable energy projects, many of which are near where you live and work. Together with responsible energy consumers like you, we are empowered to improve our world.

By funding new renewable energy sources to power our homes, our businesses and our communities, PPL EnergyPlus is helping to reduce the amount of energy in our electricity grid generated from traditional fossil fuel sources such as coal, natural gas and oil, and increase the amount of renewable energy.

The Renewables Program gives customers an opportunity to support new renewable energy. When you participate, PPL EnergyPlus uses your and other customers’ payments to purchase and retire Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from renewable energy generation projects. Depending on the option you choose, you can support new local renewable energy generation projects in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, new regional projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, or existing projects elsewhere in the United States. This support provides funding to renewable resource developers, so that together we can create new renewable energy.

When we say new, we mean it. Your participation in the Renewables Program supports the creation of renewable energy generation projects that are still in the works. Some renewable energy companies utilize existing projects, including those that have been on line for many years. Our focus is on projects that are in consideration or under construction as of 1/1/2008.
