By participating in the Renewables Program locally and regionally, customers like you make the choice to support new renewable energy generation and help reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

To help increase the amount of green power in the energy mix, PPL EnergyPlus purchases and retires Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from the energy marketplace according to the level of commitment you and others like you choose to make. One REC can be created and retired for each megawatt-hour of electricity generated from a renewable energy facility and delivered into the electricity grid.

Specifically, RECs purchased by the Renewables Program benefit the environment by supporting new local and regional renewable energy generation. REC purchases help increase the amount of energy entering the electricity grid generated by renewable energy sources like wind, landfill gas and hydroelectric. Your support of the Renewables Program creates additional financial rewards for renewable projects, increasing the number of renewable energy projects that are built and decreasing the need to build more fossil fuel energy resources. At the end of the day, your choice is an investment in a greener future.
