Solar Energy Projects

PPL Renewable Energy designs and constructs photovoltaic systems to convert sunlight into solar power.  Rooftop or ground-mounted solar panels are proven to reduce customer energy bills by generating energy from the sun during peak hours.  In addition, these projects can be connected directly to the electricity grid.

PPL Renewable Energy has developed solar projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic, with a capacity to generate 3.3 megawatts of renewable energy:Solar Novacare Complex

  • Philadelphia Eagles NovaCare Complex
As part of the team’s Go Green initiative, PPL designed and constructed an innovative system for the training and practice complex. The system tracks the sun throughout the day to maximize the amount of solar energy produced.
  • Macy’s Department Stores
Rooftop solar power installations produce renewable electricity for Macy’s department stores in New Jersey.

This 500 kilowatt photovoltaic system at the Pennsauken Sanitary Landfill in New Jersey is used to provide on-site power during the day. It also powers blowers that remove methane gas from the landfill. The blowers then send the methane to landfill gas engines – another source of renewable electricity.
