PPL Corporation and its subsidiaries have a long history of supporting renewable energy generation – including wind, landfill gas, hydroelectric, solar and other alternative energy projects. And while the Renewables Program will focus on creating new local and regional renewable energy projects, it's rooted in a successful renewable energy track record.

PPL already helps generate more than 1,000 megawatts of clean and renewable energy from existing sites.

Since one megawatt can cover about 750 households, that's enough energy at maximum capacity to power over 800,000 homes!

PPL EnergyPlus also has contracts with other renewable energy sources that use waste products to generate electricity. There are over 300 megawatts of these resources in our portfolio, and the primary fuels these facilities use are anthracite culm (waste coal) and waste wood.
